Autonomous cars have already been tested on roads. Well, the crucial part of these cars is their automated braking system and the change of lane. Both of these aspects need to be monitored perfectly to get the cars on the roads for everyone and it may be possible in the future ahead.
Just like we never imagined to have wireless phones in the past. But now it has become a part of our life and its software development has reached such a peak that it is helping us in the day to day activities of our life. As we all know these self-driving cars depend totally on the capability of the software implemented into them. Intel has given a three-step process describing the biggest change in the automobile industry for the autonomous cars. Well, many companies are competing now to launch the first fully autonomous car. Some of the well-known names are as follows –
Apple, Waymo, Audi, Ford, Tesla, Renault, Lyft and Uber.
The basic requirements for these cars to work is the process of integrating electronics in the car components and an amazing internet connection for exchanging data. The vehicles will have a central processing unit for sure to provide various functions required, but there is no concurrence for what operating system to be used.
Well, the test drive of an autonomous car does not provide all the accidental damage systems. It is like what more can come along? This is the most tricky part that needs to be resolved. So, as of now, we won’t be able to sit inside the car and tell our autopilot to drive to our destination. A fully automatic solution to this is a massive challenge and can now cover only a few circumstances. In the urban area and high traffic roads, it is too early to rely on the autonomous car as of now.
So, the main task faced by the software developers is to get a suitable product which would cover the maximum number of a situation like blocked roads systems, traffic signals, auto parking and many more. Every year the developers are improving all the aspects and we expect it would be ready for us very soon. Various features of the autonomous cars that will be projected in the future are as follows –
- All of us are well acquainted by the navigation system that helps us find all our destination very easily. The future navigation systems will have the feature to communicate with the other systems and it will be totally different from the one that we have now. The new navigation system will be able to collect data on the common routes travelled by the user and that will be very helpful for the future rides. For example in the normal weekdays you go to the gym, then drop your kids and go to work and on the weekend you go to your desired leisure spot. The new navigation system will remember all of your routes and will get ready in advance, that is it will give you a weather report, road conditions and find you the best route for your journey and even play the favourite music. Another important feature of this navigation system will be that it will be able to fetch data from other cars too which will be very helpful for the cars to estimate the traffic and of the vehicles that are travelling ahead of it. With all this information the functions can be processed easily.
- Nowadays, cars are so modified that systems have been engaged in checking the conditions of various parts of it. The software system can inform the driver to change the oil or other filters when it is required. In the future, it will also be able to determine the body condition of the driver. For example, heart rate monitors may be installed, sensors would be installed that won’t allow the driver to fall asleep during long drives.
- Anti-theft systems will be developed as well. Every car opens and starts the engine with its key now. Later the system will allow the driver to open and start the engine with the help of a smartphone in their pocket. If the driver wants to give access to someone they just have to mail the key and the person will get the access.
Now that we can see that the future of these imagined cars won’t take long to keep their steps on the roads for us. Hopefully, we would adopt them easily and it will also be a great development for the automobile industry.
